News from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC): The Chinese government begin building the first inland nuclear power station within the next two years.
An interview with Li Yongjiang, the member of the national committee CPPCC (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) and the former President of CNNC Nuclear Power, Qinshan Joint Venture Company Ltd., said that forty nuclear power plants will be built during the Twelfth Five-Year Program.
NuclearLv Yachen, the Vice-President of Shanghai Electric, was questioned by a journalist on how to further the development of current nuclear power. Yachen said that there are four outstanding issues that need to be solved to accelerate nuclear power development.
Alstom Group announced a €40 million nuclear power project, partnering with Shaanxi Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd to provide emergency diesel-electric generators (EDG) to the Tianwan Nuclear Power Station in China.
In November of 2010, China Nuclear Industrial Group signed a contract with Group Areva of France. They will cooperate to build a nuclear fuel base.
