Nuclear scientists claim that China’s nuclear power plants are safe and reliable. However, some inland nuclear power plants constructions are still delayed.

The Tao Hua Jiang nuclear power plant based in Hunan province is scheduled to be built this year. The total investment of the plant is over 60 billion RMB. A nuclear expert from Hua Jiang said, “We are watching the nuclear explosion events that happened in Japan. The events have taught us a lot and has added to our experience. We have been waiting twenty years to build the Hunan nuclear power plant, but in order to operate safely in the future, it’s alright to wait a little longer.” Cai Guoxiong, Assistant Chief Engineer of China Electric Power Research Institute said, “We shouldn’t develop the nuclear power industry too fast. If there are any problems, it would be more difficult to deal with them in the future.”
