China’s Nuclear Approvals To Resume This August?
May 3, 2011 No CommentsA National Energy Bureau (NEB) official revealed during a recent news press conference that China’s nuclear approvals could resume in August of this year. The original plan of developing a 40-million generation capacity by 2015 will not change. Moreover, NEB will change “The Instruction of Furthering the Development of Renewable Energy” and “The Instruction of Developing Distributed Energy of Natural Gas”, to furthering the development of distributed generation demonstration projects.
China’s nuclear approvals were suspended this March due to the nuclear crisis in Japan. However, according to Lin Chengge, an expert from the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, the government may release a nuclear safety plan in August. By then nuclear approvals may resume.
Meanwhile, NEB is currently working on “The Procedure of Distributed Generation Management” which will be released some time in July. The Procedure is expected to stimulate the development of distributed generation by providing subsidies, allowing extra electricity to be sold to grids and giving investors grid equipment property rights.
